Complete Care Guide – Asparagus Fern Kokedama
1. Light
•Best: Bright, indirect light.
•Tolerates: Partial shade.
•Avoid: Direct afternoon sun (can scorch delicate leaves and live moss).
2. Watering
•Frequency: 2–3 times a week in warm seasons, once a week in winter.
•How-To:
•Submerge the moss ball in room-temperature water for 10–15 minutes until fully soaked.
•Let excess water drain completely before placing it back.
•Mist the foliage lightly in between waterings to maintain humidity.
💧 Tip: The moss ball will feel light and dry when it’s time to water again.
3. Humidity
•Prefers: Moderate to high humidity (50% and above).
•Tip: Mist often or place near a humidifier in dry seasons.
4. Temperature
•Ideal Range: 18–26°C (65–78°F).
•Avoid: Cold drafts and temperatures below 10°C (50°F).
5. Fertilizing
•Use: Liquid houseplant fertilizer diluted to ½ strength.
•Frequency: Once every 4 weeks in spring and summer; avoid in winter.
6. Grooming & Pruning
•Trim off any brown or dried leaves at the base with clean scissors.
7. Repotting / Re-wrapping
•After 8–12 months, check the root health. If the moss ball begins to fall apart or the plant outgrows it, consider:
•Rewrapping with fresh moss and soil mix.
•Transplanting into a regular pot if preferred.
